The Education Emergency: two panels in London and Cambridge link up

Today in London and Cambridge, two panels made up of a diverse group of women were on stage to discuss the ‘Education Emergency’ facing girls in the UK and worldwide.

Chaired by ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s Christianne Cavaliere, the London panel was made up by Pakistani activist Baela Raza Jamil,  Global Youth Ambassador for A World at School Francesca Danmole, Mulberry School for Girl’s Vanessa Ogden and  Maria Amrin, and Standard Chartered’s Payal Dalal.

In Cambridge, Dame Barbara Stocking chaired a panel made up of Professor of International Education Pauline Rose, Malala Yousafzai’s former teacher Mariam Khalique, Zoah Hedges-Stocks from the Showman Traveller community and Lucy Lake with special guest Fatima Yakubu from Camfed.

They addressed the following fundamental questions:

  • What difference does education make to lives worldwide?
  • What are the impacts on women and girls of education being unavailable, inaccessible or actively denied?
  • What policy options might be effective in securing the right to safe and quality education for all around the globe?
